iOS 14 leak reveals new devices and software features

Details about Apple’s next mobile operating system, iOS 14, and potential upcoming hardware releases including a new iPhone with Touch ID have leaked online.

An early build of iOS 14, which is not set to be released until September this year, points to a number of new devices and software features as Apple looks to update and overhaul its offerings.

The leaked code suggests that a new iPad Pro with three cameras and an innovative time-of-flight sensor will launch in the coming months alongside a budget-focused iPhone, presumably the iPhone SE successor.

There will be a new Apple TV box and also a new Apple TV remote, though details are thin on the ground for this one.

A slew of new software features are also likely to roll out with iOS 14, though the source stressed that is not known whether they will make it to the official release build.

Perhaps the most exciting feature for iPhone owners is a new list view on the home screen.

This new feature will allow users to view all of their installed apps at a glance and filter through them based on notifications and other factors.

The grid-based home screen has been a mainstay on Apple’s smartphones for years, so this could be a major change.

There will also be a new AR app that will serve up information about what a user is seeing in the real world.

Integration for wallpapers will improve with the addition of third-party apps in settings, which will make it easier to switch preferences.

Apple is also looking to improve accessibility by identifying certain sounds such as alarms for people who are hard of hearing.

Leaks for iOS 14 have been coming thick and fast during the last 24 hours, so it is likely that more information will surface during the next week or so.
